Picture this: the 1950s. A time of rock ‘n’ roll, sleek cars, and summer days hotter than a jalapeño pepper. In a small city that was as boring as a library on a school day, lived a boy named Benny. He was your average kid with a not-so-average secret: a pair of magic glasses that could see into the future! Yep, you heard me right—futuristic eyeglasses long before they became a thing. Talk about ahead of the curve!
One afternoon, Benny flopped down on his bed, playing with the bright red frames that had mysteriously appeared on his doorstep. “Let’s see what’s cooking in the cosmos today,” he whispered, sliding the specs over his nose. He squinted, and Bam! With a flicker of static that felt like the one you get from a trampoline, the future unfolded before him like a comic book page. But oh boy, was it a doozy!
Suddenly, he got a vision of a massive asteroid hurtling toward Earth with all the subtlety of a flying brick. “Holy hydrogen-filled meteors!” he shouted. It was big, it was nasty, and it was only a few days away from turning the planet into cosmic confetti! “I gotta do something!” he declared, starting a panic dance that would put the jitterbug to shame.
Benny knew he couldn’t save the world solo. So, he grabbed his skateboard and zoomed over to his best friend’s house. Miranda —All brains, and loved adventure. “Miranda!” he shouted as he skidded to a halt. “We have an asteroid situation! Like, HUGE! We need a plan!”
“First of all, cool it, Benny. I’m trying to watch the coolest cartoons on TV,” she responded, rolling her eyes but intrigued. “What’s this about an asteroid?”
“Asteroids don’t care about your cartoons!” he exclaimed, yanking her toward his room. He quickly put on the magic glasses again. “Check this out. It’s coming right for us!”
Miranda gasped at the swirling, fiery future projected through the lenses. “Whoa, those specs are radical!”
“I know, right? The problem is, I don’t know how to stop it. And time’s running out!” Benny said, feeling the weight of the universe on his 12-year-old shoulders.
Just as they were mulling over their imminent doom, something zapped in the air, and a shimmering portal opened in Benny’s room. Out popped two aliens, looking like a something from a old sci fi movie.
“Greetings, Earthlings!” one squeaked, buzzing with excitement. “We are Zib and Zob from Planet Quirk! We overheard your asteroid dilemma.”
“Uh… hey there, intergalactic pals! We could use your help!” Benny stammered, glancing at Miranda, who had her eyes wide open in amazement. “What do you have in mind?”
“We’ve got an idea that will pop that asteroid like yesterday’s bubblegum!” Zib chirped, pulling out what looked like a remote control covered in flashing lights. “This device can turn any object into candy!”
“Cool! Candy canes or gummy bears?” Miranda asked, way too invested in sweets for the fate of the planet.
“Candy asteroid, of course!” Zob replied, grinning widely with an alien charm that could brighten the gloomiest of days. “But first, we need to intercept it and zap it to sugary oblivion before it crashes!”
Benny and Miranda exchanged glances. “Okay, let’s make some candy!” Benny shouted, egging them on. Adrenaline pumping, the four of them hopped onto the skateboard, which now had magically transformed into a hoverboard, and soared up into the sky!
With the power of the cosmic specs guiding them, they zoomed through clouds like the wind, finally spotting the asteroid directly ahead, looming ominously. “It’s now or never!” Benny shouted. “Zib, Zob, do your thing!”
With a click and a whoosh of sparkly lights, Zib and Zob aimed the remote at the asteroid. But instead of a big, juicy candy boulder, there was a strange blinding flash. The asteroid erupted into a mass of swirling, glimmering fairy floss!
“Whoa! Now that’s a party!” Miranda cheered, reaching out her arms to grab the fluffy sweetness.
Benny burst out laughing. “Just think of the carnival we could have!”
“Quick! Let’s guide it away from Earth!” Zib squealed, tapping buttons on the remote like someone playing a video game. The candy asteroid floated harmlessly off into the cosmos, no longer a threat.
As they hovered in the sky, the galaxy lit up in a dazzling array of colours, and a cosmic sweep of candy rain fell down like confetti. “We did it!” Benny cheered, giving high-fives and laughing with Miranda and their new alien friends.
With the world safe and sound, Benny knew he had made some unforgettable friends that day—both human and alien. As they flew back home, Benny took off his magic glasses and with a wink said, “Who knew saving the world could be so sweet?”
And who knows? Maybe the cosmos would come calling again, because with a pair of magic glasses, a skateboard, and a remote-wielding alien squad, anything is possible.
